SEASON 1 · OCT 2025 — JAN 2026
The season ended.
The archive remains.
From October 18, 2025 to January 17, 2026, the first season of The Game of Satoshi ran live. 6,700 players signed up. 400 made it into the elimination week. Nobody finished it. The prize is still in the vault. Here's what happened, and what comes next.
What ran from October to January
Twelve episodes traced the road to the genesis block. Money and how it breaks. The 1933 gold confiscation. The 1971 break from the gold standard. The cypherpunk decade nobody talks about. The 2008 crash. The night the network woke up. Each episode published live, watched in real time, with a season-long structure aimed at one moment: block zero.
Twelve missions ran in parallel. Buy peer-to-peer. Run a node. Move into self-custody. Send a Lightning payment. Test your recovery. Each mission was finishable on its own. The full sequence asked more than most people are willing to do, which is the point.
Nine interviews captured the people doing the work. Builders, operators, hosts of long-running events. They said useful things on the record. They are still on the record.
The prize is unclaimed
The original deal was simple. 1 BTC would be split between every player who finished all three phases and cracked the final puzzle inside the elimination week. The elimination week opened. Nobody finished it.
So we lowered the prize to 0.21 BTC for the first single player to crack the remaining puzzle. Four months passed. Nobody did. The vault stayed sealed.
That's the honest version. The bar was set where it was on purpose. Once the season was scored, changing the rules retroactively would have penalized the people who already played by them. The right move was to leave it alone and close the season.
We owe the players a clearer ending than silence, and this page is part of it. If the season had crowned a winner who didn't earn it, the archive would have a story to tell about itself. It doesn't. That's a better outcome than a fake one. Season 2 will be tightened where Season 1 was rough.
Why this is now an archive
The Game of Satoshi was a three-month event. The Satoshi Archive is what holds it once the season ends.
These are different modes. The game pulls you forward. The archive lets you stop and look. One asks you to chase. The other asks you to remember. The episodes don't go offline. The missions stay open. The interviews keep their place. Anyone arriving for the first time can start at episode one and finish at the genesis block, no different from someone who watched it live.
I'm not the person who'll explain consensus mechanics better than the people who built the network. What I can do is go backwards through Bitcoin's history carefully, figure out what actually happened, and pass it on in a form that holds up. The archive is built on that. Not on hype, not on news, not on what the price did this week. On what actually happened, told carefully, kept on purpose.
What's next: Season 2
Season 2 drops Q4 of 2026. Same spine. Sharper execution. Episodes that go deeper into what Bitcoin actually is, not what it costs this week.
Between now and then, the archive grows. Interviews and other educational content, published when something is worth recording properly. No filler, no churn. The waitlist goes first when Season 2 opens. Everyone else finds out after.
Carry the signal
If you played Season 1, thank you. You showed up for something built from scratch by a small team, and that's the only reason any of this got made. The archive exists because you played.
Two ways forward, depending on what you came for:
Or pass it on. Share with one person who'd benefit. Bitcoin grows the way it always has, person to person, on purpose.
