The lesson

Bitcoin does not disappear when systems fail. Access does. A hardware wallet that breaks, a phone that vanishes, a house that burns — none of these touch the sats themselves. They touch the equipment between you and the sats. Ten missions in, you have set up enough equipment that the equipment itself has become a single point of failure if it has never been stress-tested.

Most people who have written down a seed phrase have never typed it back into a fresh device. They know it exists. They believe it works. They have never proven it. A seed phrase you have not tested is a promise you made to yourself. Promises fail quietly. A backup either works under real conditions or it doesn't, and the only way to find out is to try it on a calm day before you need it on a chaotic one.

The drill is not glamorous. It takes one or two quiet hours, on a day with no pressure. You walk through the recovery as if your main device were already gone. If it works, your sovereignty stops being theoretical. If it doesn't, you learned the gap on a day you had time to fix it instead of on a day you didn't.

Do this now

Pretend your main hardware wallet is gone. Do not look at it. Can you state the twelve words from where you stored them, in the right order, without errors? If the answer is "I think so", that is the first thing to fix.
Do a full restore on a second Trezor with a small test amount. Open trezor.io, get a second device if you do not have one. Restore from your seed, send a small amount in, send a small amount back out. Confirm both flows work.
Store the seed where one disaster cannot reach. Two physical locations. Fire- and water-resistant. Not in the cloud. Not in a photo. Not written down anywhere a person tidying a drawer could throw it out by accident.
